BROCK DALLMAN

For over two decades, I have been exploring the wild places of the American West, capturing its breathtaking beauty through my lens. My love for the mountains and the outdoors began at a young age, nurtured by my parents who frequently took me camping and backpacking in the forests of Oregon. The tranquility and grandeur of these landscapes left a lasting impression, inspiring a lifelong passion for adventure and discovery.

My journey into photography started with a simple desire to preserve the memories of my backpacking trips. Before setting out on my first long-distance hike on the Oregon section of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2010, I purchased a cheap Olympus point-and-shoot camera. With it, I documented the vast, untamed beauty of the wilderness during several long-distance PCT journeys. In 2015, I upgraded to a smartphone, capturing moments of my adventures with the convenience of a device always in my pocket. Yet, I soon realized I wanted to take my photography further, to truly do justice to the landscapes that inspired me. That desire led me to invest in a Sony a6400, a decision that elevated my ability to capture the intricate details and sweeping vistas of the mountains.

Photography has profoundly enriched my wilderness experiences. Each trip is an opportunity to not only witness the grandeur of nature but to engage with it on a deeper level. The challenge of mountain photography—chasing the perfect light, navigating unpredictable weather, and seeking out unique perspectives—has pushed me to grow as both an adventurer and an artist.

My goal is to share the awe-inspiring beauty of these wild places through my work. Whether it's the golden glow of an alpine sunrise, the serene reflection of jagged peaks in a still lake, or the endless expanse of a star-filled sky, I strive to capture moments that evoke the wonder and reverence I feel in nature. Thank you for visiting my site. I hope my photographs inspire you to explore, appreciate, and protect the wild places that make our world so extraordinary.
